2017 FIPFA World Cup - Kissimmee, Florida, USA

Champions: France Runners Up: USA The 2017 FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup took place in Florida, USA. Ten teams contended for the championship, which included the first World Cup appearances for both Argentina and Uruguay. This action-packed tournament was made even more exciting with the introduction of the Strike Force powerchair, leading to several gripping matches. The US team managed to narrowly defeat England 2-1 in an action-packed semi-final, while France smoothly overcame Australia, who had unexpectedly reached the semi-finals. The final was a rematch between the USA and France, where the French team emerged victorious, clinching their first World Cup win with a 4-2 victory over the hosts.

2011 FIPFA World Cup – Paris, France

Champions: USA Runners Up: England November 2011 witnessed Paris come alive as it played host to the second FIPFA World Cup. Among the ten teams that graced the court, newcomers Australia, Ireland, and Switzerland made their first appearances. The reigning champions, USA, skilfully outmanoeuvred the hosts, earning a spot in the final. Awaiting them, there was the English team, who had previously claimed victory over them in the group stage. However, the tables dramatically turned in the final, with the reigning champs displaying an exceptional performance to secure their second title, reversing their earlier defeat to the English team with a decisive 3-0 win.

2007 FIPFA World Cup – Tokyo, Japan

Champions: USARunners Up: France Tokyo, Japan, had the honour of hosting the very first FIPFA World Cup in October 2007. The tournament welcomed teams from Belgium, Canada, Denmark, England, France, Japan, Portugal, and the USA, all ready to carve out their places in powerchair football history.
The USA team navigated their way undefeated through the tournament, meeting the French team in a nail-biting final. The game was of such high stakes that it ultimately culminated in a thrilling penalty shoot-out. Proving their mettle under intense pressure, the USA emerged as victors, etching their names as the inaugural FIPFA World Cup Champions.

The FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup 2023 will bring the world’s best powerchair footballers to Sydney, Australia, from 15 to 20 October 2023.
