Fédération Internationale de Powerchair Football Association - FIPFA
FIPFA, the Fédération Internationale de Powerchair Football Association, is the international governing body for powerchair football. FIPFA are responsible for organising and promoting the sport of powerchair football on a global level and works to develop and implement rules and regulations for the sport, ensuring fair play and safety for all participants.
They are committed to the growth and development of powerchair football worldwide and to creating opportunities for athletes with physical disabilities to participate in the sport. The organisation works closely with national and continental powerchair football associations to organise international competitions which bring together the best teams and players worldwide.
FIPFA provide training and education programmes for coaches, referees, and players to promote the sport’s development and to ensure that it is played in accordance with the highest standards of professionalism and sportsmanship. In addition to its role in promoting and developing powerchair football, FIPFA is also committed to raising awareness about disability issues and to promoting greater inclusion and accessibility in sports and physical activity.
European Powerchair Football Association (EPFA):
Europe is home to some of the most established powerchair football nations and is continually striving to further develop the sport. The region boasts the greatest number of nations participating in the sport, and the sharing of knowledge amongst these nations ensures a promising future for powerchair football in Europe. The European Powerchair Football Association (EPFA) organises the EPFA Champions Cup on a bi-annual basis, while the EPFA Nations Cup, featuring national teams, is held every four years.
The following national powerchair football organisations are recognised by EPFA: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Spain and Switzerland.
American Powerchair Football Confederation (APFC):
The Americas Powerchair Football Confederation (APFC) represents countries across North, Central, and South America. The confederation features a wide array of teams, from the two-time world champions USA to several enthusiastic emerging teams. APFC organises a range of club and international competitions, including the Americas Cup for national teams, the Copa Sudamericana for South American nations, and the Champions Cup that brings together the finest club teams from the Americas.
APFC recognises the following member countries: Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Mexico, USA and Canada.
Asia, Pacific, Ocieana Zone (APO):
The Asia Pacific Oceania (APO) zone unites countries across Asia and beyond, covering a vast and highly populous region. Given the sheer potential and diversity of this zone, it's just a matter of time before powerchair football gains significant traction here. The APO Cup, held every four years, serves as the zone's foremost competition, showcasing the region's powerchair football talent on a grand scale.
APO recognises the following member countries: Japan, South Korea, New Zealand and Australia.
