This will be the 4th FIPFA World Cup.
Dr Andy Harper, Chair of the Local Organising Committee, said: “On behalf of the organising committee, welcome to everyone as we prepare for the FIFPA World Cup 2022. Powerchair football is an exciting spectacle and the powerchair footballers are as committed to their sport and the pursuit of excellence as any. We know the players will compete hard for the honour of being crowned world champions. Our aim at the LOC is to provide the players and their support and care networks the best experience possible. We will be working tirelessly to ensure that ‘football for all’ is a meaningful rallying cry for greater inclusiveness. We know that the Australian football and sporting community will embrace their Poweroos, and all the competing nations, for the world cup next year.”
Matt Cross, APFA President, said: “We are incredibly proud to have been awarded the right to host the FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup 2022 and are determined to deliver a world-class event to the powerchair and wider footballing community. The Poweroos are excited for the chance to prove themselves against the world’s best and will be more determined than ever to win on home soil.”
